About OSI Properties
How it all began
Hi! We are Serena and Juan – we created OSI Properties for mainly two reasons: (1) document our journey to create wealth through real estate and (2) share our experiences with others who would love to start their own journey in real estate investments.
After reading Rich Dad Poor Dad and Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant we decided to invest in real estate with one goal: to generate wealth through passive income. At the same time we found BiggerPockets which provided us with the education to find our first deal. For the first couple of years we focused on buy and hold long-term rentals. Starting in 2018 we shifted our focus to building a short-term rental business in Kissimmee, FL.
Meanwhile, as we were growing our business we realized that a lot of our colleagues and friends have similar goals as ours. They love the idea of owning real estate, but don’t know how or where to begin. Therefore, we decided to create OSI Properties as a vehicle to share our stories and lessons.
About Serena
Roles at OSI Properties
Serena is the founder of OSI Properties and a real estate agent with Iron Valley Real Estate Orlando. As an experienced investor and short-term rental host, Serena can help you buy or sell properties in Florida and share her knowledge and experiences with you.
Education
Serena was born and raised in South Korea, and moved to the United States in 2011 to pursue her Master’s degree in Accounting at the State University of New York. In 2015 she became a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in New York and a Florida Real Estate Sales Associate in 2020.
Professional experience outside of real estate
In 2013 Serena joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Internal Auditor and Deals Associate. Subsequently, in 2015 she joined Deloitte & Touché and became an Accounting Advisory Manager in 2018.
About Juan
Roles at OSI Properties
Juan is the co-founder of OSI Properties and serves as our business advisor. He helps setting the vision, strategy and processes for OSI Properties, as well as sharing his knowledge through our Blog.
Education
Juan was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Subsequently he graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 2012 and in 2016 became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Charterholder).
Professional experience outside of real estate
After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico in 2012, Juan moved to New York to work as a Risk Analyst in GE Capital. After one year, he joined Morgan Stanley as a Consultant and later on as an Investment Associate for the Trust business. Shortly after in 2014, Juan joined BlackRock as a Fixed Income Product Specialist and in 2018 became a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager.
